Job Description A bank in Downtown Toronto is looking for a Senior Delivery Manager for a 6 month contract (WFH – one visit to the office a month).. Business Group: Canadian Digital Banking Engineering – Applications – supports the mobile apps for the bank. Project: TSYS Migration: Highly visible TSYS migration project in which a back office division is being migrated to the new TSYS system. Candidate Value Proposition: The candidate will have the opportunity to gain experience working in an Agile environment within the financial sector, working with Digital Channels on high visibility initiatives for one of the top 5 Canadian Banks Best vs Average Candidate 10+ years is preferable but keeping at 7+. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a fast paced and high visibility project. As well as being a self-starter, the ideal candidate would have worked with large projects with contractual deadlines. They should be able to own the roadmap of the project. Typical Day in Role: • Work with a team to identify roadmap/feature dependencies and impediments. Being accountable for tracking the dependencies and impediments and removing them to enable the team: surface, track, escalate • Guide and coach the team to follow agile practices • Regularly communicate with other scrum teams to ensure tactical story alignment and identifies/tracks dependencies between the team. • Facilitate discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution. Build a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised and resolved. • Assists in the identification and mitigation of project risks. • Identifies and acts on coaching opportunities at the individual and team level. • Conducts regular assessments of a team Agile Maturity and uses the results to guide them to improved performance. • Facilitate agile ceremonies (Daily Scrum, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Planning, Sprint Review, and Retrospective) and longer-term planning exercises (Release Planning, Release Train Planning). • Support the Product Owner, especially with respect to story grooming and maintaining the product backlog. • Pro-actively identify and mitigate risks using Agile best practices and project deliverables • Needs to forecast the numbers of deliverables, which is based on evidence and reliable source. • Needs to be expert in estimating and planning. Knows how to create useful, reliable and practical plans for software development projects • Provide regular, standardized reporting for team performance: velocity, stories completed and project status. • Work closely with the Finance to ensure the alignment of budgets, spend and forecasts. Also, Support budget tracking and variance mitigation efforts for the delivery team • Coordinate operation readiness activities with associated teams (security, infrastructure, network, etc) • Oversee and coordinate software release activities. • Active participation and help assist in timely decision making in defining product backlog (working with Product Owner, Business Analyst); alignment to overall product architecture and technical design (working with Architect and Tech Leads) • Provide regular, standardized reporting for team performance: velocity, stories completed and project status. • Regularly reviewing sprint review and retrospective feedback and action items with them ensuring they are laser focused on efficient, quality engineering delivery.
Job Requirements Must Have Skills: 1. 7+ years of previous experience as a Delivery Lead/Delivery Manager/Senior PM with Scrum experience 2. 7+ years’ experience with backlog tracking, Scrum and Kanban based metrics, task definition, story splitting. 3. Demonstrated knowledge of software development processes and procedures to understand the team needs - SDLC 4. 5+ years’ experience working in an Agile environment, with common development practices and in service-oriented environments 5. 5+ years hands-on experience leading release management activities for successful delivery of product launches Nice to have Skills: 1. 2+ years’ experience as a Scrum Master 2. Experience as a Program Manager working with multiple complex initiatives, within banking 3. A big plus would be experience working in Digital Channels within The bank 4. Working experience in JIRA/Confluence 5. Experience with System Design and work independent of Architect on creating pragmatic solutions to technical problems, working with the scrum team. 6. Working experience in Digital solutions team in Finance industry is an asset Soft Skills Required: • Great communication skills -oral and written • Demonstrated high level of analytical and problem-solving skills • Diplomatic yet willing to have hard conversations with team members, products owner and delivery partners when there are challenges, issues impeding delivery execution – people skills • Solid analytical and critical thinking skills with an ability to communicate at levels with all key organizational partners • Need to be able to hit the ground running Education: • Bachelor’s Degree • Software Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent an asset • CSM an asset • PMP an asset • Scrum At Scale an asset • Agile Coaching is an asset
