Job Description A bank in Downtown Toronto is seeking a Cobol developer for 6 month contract (Can extend or go FTE)....WFH... most of the time. Story Behind the Need: Additional support required with the migration of TRIAD from FICO host (vendor) to the bank’s host, as this is a time sensitive project. This is a critical initiative for a CIA application. Project: This project is currently moving into its next phase and requires an additional Cobol Mainframe developer. This project is a time sensitive Cloud based app migration from a third-party vendor to the Bank’s Private cloud. The Cobol developer would support Development team with different activities related to this Rehoming project such as: the implementation of Deposit only customer in TRIAD, TRIAD 9.2 installation, implementation of EFH and decommission of JO and 8M (files transmission systems), application support, testing support, among others. Typical Day in the Role: - Documentation of existing state, interim state and future state solutions, architecture, and integration points - Analyze highly complex business requirements; generate technical specifications to design or redesign complex software components and applications. - Act as an expert technical resource for modeling, simulation and analysis efforts. - Leverage industry best practices to design, test, implement and support a solution. - Assure quality, security and compliance requirements are met for supported area. - Running tests and adjusting the programming as needed - Raise blockers or gaps in current plan, identify and engage teams that can resolve them and work towards that resolution. - Accountable for the activities for projects assigned (including related sub-projects) - Within the context of the assigned programs/projects, responsible for providing regular communications with technical stakeholders - Act as the subject matter expert for the projects assigned and be able to summarize progress/challenges to leadership
Job Requirements - 5 years’ experience with Cobol - Mainframe development - 5 years’ experience of previous Programming experience - Ability to conceptualize the design for the application/functionality. Nice to Have Skills: - Previous experience working with a Financial Institute an asset Soft Skills: - Strong communication skills are needed for this role (Written/Verbal) - Ability to work in a Team environment Education: Post Secondary education in a related field or equivalent work experience
