Job Description A Bank in Downtown Toronto (WFH) is seeking Capital Markets - Business Analyst - IT - 5 for a contract of ASAP to 31/10/2022. • Business group: GWRT - Global Capital Markets Technology • Project: Trade Surveillance Project • Reason for request: Backfill Candidate Value Proposition - The successful candidate will have the opportunity use leading edge technologies and real time applications and processes using tools such as Elastic Search, Kafka, Kibana, NiFi etc. They will also work on resolving complex and multi-facetted problems. Typical Day in Role • Research, formulate, and perform data-driven analytics using SQL and/or other tools such as Elastic Search, Postman, and Kibana. • Assist in resolving complex, multi-faceted problems to meet the system needs of the Institutional Equity Trading Desks and their internal and external customers, by applying your business and technological knowledge to perform analysis, reconciliations, defining user requirements, design and implementation of system enhancements/solutions. • Support, liaison, and gather requirements from senior stakeholders and clearly articulate business requirements to technical teams. • Building relationships with vendors to allow for regular communication for needs and adequate time to implement changes • Working with technology and business partners and stakeholders to do data mapping, data analysis, order and trade data mapping from federated systems (Fidessa real-time trade/order data is being mapped into a consolidated data model). • Test, validate, and deploy solution to production environment • Create artifacts required for deployments • Working with data platform team and connect with other teams from data governance, etc. to deploy solution from one environment to another. • Work with raw data from developers to reroute data to different topics (understanding of NiFi is required) • Working primarily with institutional equities • Build relationships and work with key stakeholders to quickly deliver value added solutions. • Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, perform under pressure, and change priorities as needed.
Job Requirements Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills: • 5+ years’ experience in a relevant capacity as a technical BA • Strong data driven analysis knowledge, ability to write SQL queries • Experience working with NiFi or other ETL tools to understand how flows work • Understanding of how FIX Protocols work, professional experience in this realm • Need to have strong background in at least two of the following: Kafka, Elastic Search, NiFi, and FIX (Financial Information Exchange) messages. • Understanding of capital markets data (trade lifecycle, securities, equities post-trade processes, institutional equities, etc) o in-depth knowledge of Capital Markets data analysis, data mapping, data publication/consumption and business requirements relating to Kafka, Elastic Search, and FIX (Financial Information Exchange) messages. • Documentation skills (data flow diagrams, technical specifications, etc.) • SDLC, data/business analysis experience. Nice-To-Have Skills: • Vendor application and federated trading platforms experience with products such as Fidessa, Bloomberg, etc. is an asset • Real-time data processing/Kafka experience to analyze and help develop solutions is an asset • Ability to work with third-party APIs, Postman, and other API/data tools is an asset • Knowledge/experience with reporting tools/platforms such as Business Objects, Power BI, Kibana, Excel Macros/Pivots, and other similar tools is an asset Soft Skills: • Great communication (verbal and written) • Ability to prioritize, produce plans, and deliver on deadlines Best vs Average: - Technical skills are central to this role, although candidates will need a basic understanding of capital markets and how stocks are traded in order to be trained up for this role. - Ideal candidate would have in-depth data driven analysis experience and ability to communicate with stakeholders in a clear and concise manner. A candidate with previous Bank experience within capital markets or middle office reconciliation experience would be able to adapt to the role quickest. Experience with the full lifecycle is useful (front/middle/back office). Looking for someone to hit the ground running, needs to have both technical skills and business acumen.
