A bank in downtown Toronto is seeking an intermediate RHL System Administrator. 5 month Contract Renewable. The main function of a Systems Administrator is to be responsible for the administration of core systems as well as monitoring and repair of high performance computing systems. Ensures consistent and reliable operation including enterprise servers and network infrastructure. (9 to 5 and on Call overtime)
Job Responsibilities:
• Provides wide ranging system administration in a multi-platform environment
• Responsible for general systems administration tasks including system configuration management, OS installations, security updates, urgent system patching
• Writes and implements scripts to automate tasks
• Ability to identify and troubleshoot hardware components that are problematic
• Performs daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, network disruption awareness and predefined key processes
• Reviews system logs, application logs and security logs

Must Have Skills:
- Red hat linux is main host- 2 years experience required
- Windows experience- 1-2 years of experience
- Understanding/Knowledge of Solaris, VMware, Linux to speak the language and collaborate with other tech teams, this person needs to understand what they'll be asking and how to communicate with the team so communication skills and knowledge to be able to speak the language are important
- The primary role of this individual will be to be the owner of hosting dealing with tech server owners (Tech admin role, not admin role), does not need deep technical knowledge as this person won't be doing
super technical work so the following nice to haves:
- Should have ability to troubleshoot
- Overall experience should be 2-5 years only
- Service Now (tickets, reports) 1- 2 years experience
- Ansible Knowledge (Automation tool) or can have some Jira, Confluence, Jenkins
- Should be able to come on board with minimal training
- Would be very helpful if coming from a large bank
Degrees or certifications:
• Bachelor's degree or Post-Secondary education
Additional notes: This resource is required for day to day application support and application projects. They will be part of application on-boarding, configuring within the linux platform. This candidate should be able to hit the ground running. The manager also requires good communication skills and someone who is strong with scripting (powershell, python etc.)
