A bank in Downtown Toronto is looking for a Senior Oracle DBA for a 6 month contract (Renewable) The main function of a Database Administrator is to provide database support on a variety of hardware and software platforms and peripherals.
Job Responsibilities:
• Provide on-site database and system support
• Monitor, collect statistical information, and provide reporting on capacity and system performance
• Based on statistics, make recommendations to maintain and improve capacity and system performance
• Monitor the system, and act upon system and application automated alerts
• Perform diagnostics, testing, and troubleshooting of software, o/s, and database issues (ex. correcting installation, configuration, or data problems)
• Plan and perform software installation, configuration, upgrade and patching
• Plan and perform database configuration, maintenance, upgrade and patching
• Perform and manage system and database backups
• Perform manual switch to redundant system / database components, in case of system failure
The manager requires a senior oracle DBA for a new project (database version 12C (creating environment from scratch, setting it up and helping users). Strong technical skills are more important than great communication skills.

| Job Requirements |
• 8-10 years’ experience required
• Experience in providing technical support, covering database administration and operations to include monitoring maintenance capacity, performance monitoring/planning and incident/problem troubleshooting and resolution
• Strong knowledge of SQL
• Understanding of Help Desk tools and trouble ticket tracking processes
• Understanding of support agreements and their implied service levels
• Proven ability to write excellent technical documentation
Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills:
1) Senior Oracle DBA, MS SQL- 7-10 years
2) DBA creation and updates from 11G to 12C
3) RAC- 5 years
4) ASM- automatic storage management- 5 years
5) data guard for replication
6) security auditing to take on performance issues, familiar with grid control
6) Nice to have: golden gate, cloud environment, oracle exadata
Degrees or certifications:
• Bachelor's degree or Post-Secondary education- Oracle Certification
