This environment is currently 90% Oracle database and 10% MySQL database. This position is to provide day-to-day database support of this existing environment. There is the opportunity to support migration projects in the near future.

Typical Day in Role
• Provide on-site database and system support
• Monitor, collect statistical information, and provide reporting on capacity and system performance
• Based on statistics, make recommendations to maintain and improve capacity and system performance
• Monitor the system, and act upon system and application automated alerts
• Perform diagnostics, testing, and troubleshooting of software, o/s, and database issues (ex. correcting installation, configuration, or data problems)
• Plan and perform software installation, configuration, upgrade and patching
• Plan and perform database configuration, maintenance, upgrade and patching
• Perform and manage system and database backups
• Perform manual switch to redundant system / database components, in case of system failure
• Rotation of 2 weeks primary support/2 weeks secondary support
Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills
1. Oracle DBA (5+ years experience with production database administrion - NOT application )
2. Oracle 11g and 12c (5+ years experience with creation & upgrade)
3. Oracle RAC (5+ years experience with setup, configuration, support)
4. ASM (5+ set-up environment, configure, and support)
5. Oracle Dataguard (5+years experience)
6. Performance tuning (5+ years experience)
Nice-to-Have:
- Migration project experience
- FI/Banking industry experience
- Any experience with Oracle OLAP, OWB, OEM, Perl, MS-SQL,Sybase, and Oracle Exadata
Degrees or certifications: Oracle Database Administrator Certification (OCP) an asset
Overall 8+ years in a DBA capacity
