A Bank in Downtown Toronto is looking for a Unix/RHL system Administrator. The main function of a Systems Administrator is to be responsible for the administration of core systems as well as monitoring and repair of high performance computing systems. Ensures consistent and reliable operation including enterprise servers and network infrastructure.
Job Responsibilities:
Provides wide ranging system administration in a UNIX platform environment
Responsible for general systems administration tasks including system configuration management, OS installations, security updates, urgent system patching
Ability to identify and troubleshoot hardware components that are problematic
Performs daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, network disruption awareness and predefined key processes
Reviews system logs, application logs and security logs
Resource will be on rotational support shifts (AM hours, PM hours)
Attend shifts punctually.
Review, investigate, resolve (or escalate) incident tickets and emails
Review, investigate, resolve (or escalate) task/request tickets and emails
Communicate with requestors/peers/technical teams to accomplish resolution of requests/tickets
Participate in weekend/offhours maintenance work
Work with OS/Hardware vendor via cases to assist with troubleshooting issues for Level 2 support
This Systems administrator should have 3+ years of experience. The main platform is Unix, 60% solaris and 40% red hat. This is a support position (not project driven), they should be able to know how to check logs, start and stop processes and being able to effectively communicate. The manager expects this resource to be able to escalate and not be afraid to answer questions/ put forth ideas. They will be dealing with oracle or red had cases (will be on the job training). FI/Banking will be preferred. Potentially assist with weekend / off hours maintenance work

| Job Requirements |
Experience with Solaris 11/10 / Red Hat 7,5,6 platforms.
Experience in working with server virtualization
Experience with the following in relation to Hardware/OS work:
1. Investigate and perform action to gather troubleshooting data, resolve tickets.
2. Working with HW/OS/SW vendors
Experience Middleware/application support (Websphere/Weblogic/JBOSS)
Participation in support calls/bridges.
Software Package installations
Job scheduler (ie Sysadmiral)
Qualifications:
Degree or Diploma in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent.
Training in 6 sigma/Lean management concepts management preferred
Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills:
1) Experience on solaris and red hat platform
2) Unix and Linux
3) familiar with operating system, and hardware (oracle, VMware- virtualization)
4) Excellent communication skills
5) Nice to have: middleware experience, websphjere, webloic, JBoss, Service Now or a similar ticketing tool
Degrees or certifications:
Bachelor's degree or Post-Secondary education (Solaris systems admin (oracle solaris)
